Job Overview:
The Driver position at UN Women involves providing reliable and safe driving services to high-ranking officials, including the Regional Director and Deputy Regional Director, as well as other UN officials and visitors. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and integrity, along with excellent knowledge of protocol and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues. The Driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. In addition to driving, the Driver will also provide basic administrative and clerical support to the UN Women Regional Office and assist in various protocol and administrative processes to ensure business continuity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver's primary responsibilities include:
  • Providing reliable and secure driving services for the transport of UN Women officials and personnel, facilitating VIP missions, and delivering and collecting mail and documents.
  • Ensuring the proper use of vehicles by maintaining accurate records of trips, fuel purchases, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Conducting routine checks and maintenance of the assigned vehicle, arranging for repairs, and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Maintaining all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance and registration.
  • Providing general administrative and logistic support, including logistical coordination for official visits and assisting with protocol-related correspondence.
  • Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have completed secondary education. A defensive driving certification is considered an asset. The position requires strong knowledge of driving rules, regulations, and local conditions, as well as excellent driving skills and defensive driving capabilities. Candidates should also have sound record-keeping and documentation skills, including the maintenance of vehicle and fuel logs, and basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education. A valid driver's license is mandatory, and a defensive driving certification is advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Experience in administrative support services is desirable, along with demonstrated experience in maintaining accurate vehicle and fuel logs. Familiarity with working with government partners is also beneficial, as is experience in using office software packages such as MS Word and Excel.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Swahili is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable.
