Job Overview:
The Fullstack Software Engineer position at CERN is a unique opportunity for talented individuals passionate about developing web applications and scalable back-end systems. The role involves working within the Fabric & Communication Systems (FCS) Group, which is responsible for managing CERN's extensive network and telephony infrastructure. This includes supporting a campus network with over 50,000 connected devices and a data center with more than 10,000 servers. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of network automation tools, focusing on improving IP address provisioning and enhancing the management of network resources. The position requires collaboration with a team of software engineers to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support CERN's communication systems, ensuring efficient and reliable operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Fullstack Software Engineer include:

• Contributing to the development of CERN's network automation tools, particularly in the area of dynamic DHCP updates for faster IP address allocation.
• Extending IP Address Management support for Layer 2 interfaces, which involves back-end development, database modeling, and API integration.
• Maintaining and further developing the IT-FCS web interfaces used by CERN users for network and telephony requests.
• Participating in the design and development of new modules for the internal IT-FCS network and telecom management framework.
• Promoting and developing DevOps processes and tools to enhance software quality and automation.
• Proposing and implementing changes in database models and network APIs to support service integration in CERN's data centers.
• Staying updated on the latest software technology trends to ensure the use of cutting-edge solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong foundation in software development, demonstrated through professional experiences, academic projects, internships, or personal/open-source projects. They should have exposure to web application development, including front-end and back-end components. Familiarity with databases, data models, and APIs is essential, along with experience working in team environments. Knowledge of software development practices such as version control, testing, and continuous integration is highly advantageous. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Candidates without a university degree are not eligible, and those with a PhD are also excluded from consideration. The highest educational qualification must be obtained by the application deadline.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation. This experience can be gained through various avenues, including internships, academic projects, or personal initiatives in software development.
