Job Overview: The position of Platform Owner within the IMF is crucial for the Learning, Language, and Library (LLL) Platforms Family. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for a variety of IT services, focusing on the delivery and maintenance of the LLL applications portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of business and functional requirements, translating them into technical specifications for platform development. The successful candidate will work closely with the platform delivery team to ensure that the applications meet the needs of the organization while also advising on the best technical solutions. The role encompasses service delivery, maintenance, and support of the LLL platforms, ensuring that enhancements and system integrations are executed effectively. Collaboration with vendor management teams and oversight of development and delivery by managed service providers will also be key aspects of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expertise on the implementation and integration of various platforms including Plunet, SDL GroupShare, and Microsoft Translate.
Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions leveraging the capabilities of the Plunet and SDL platforms.
Offer architectural and technical guidance for upgrades and migrations to cloud-based platforms.
Conduct architectural assessments and develop strategies and roadmaps for integration.
Collaborate with Agile project teams to understand functional requirements and design, develop, test, and release features.
Support multiple Agile Scrum teams in planning and creating technical solutions for new product capabilities.
Conduct detailed design, development, and testing using appropriate methodologies and tools.
Maintain strong configuration management and version control practices.
Produce essential documentation including Statements of Work, design documentation, and maintenance manuals. 1
Ensure compliance with best practices in coding and architectural design.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of four years of relevant professional work experience is required, or alternatively, a university degree with ten years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge and experience in development using Microsoft ASP.NET, MVC/WebAPIs, SQL Server, and PowerBI is preferred. Familiarity with ServiceNow for service management, as well as experience in designing enterprise-level solutions, is essential. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of Microsoft Azure technologies and services, including Azure AD B2B, IaaS, and Containers.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field is typically required. Alternatively, a university degree with extensive relevant experience may be acceptable. Continuous professional development and certifications in relevant technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure, are highly desirable.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in IT services, software development, and systems engineering. Candidates with ten years of experience in lieu of an advanced degree will also be considered. Experience in Agile methodologies and project management is beneficial, as is familiarity with cloud services and enterprise-level solutions.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the IMF. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to language services and translation, is considered an asset but not required.
Additional Notes: This is a one-year contractual appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to four years based on performance and business needs. The position is classified at levels A11 and A12, indicating a seniority level that requires significant expertise and experience.
