Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer (Preparedness) will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, implementation, and operationalization of logistics preparedness initiatives within the WFP Philippines Country Office. This position is focused on enhancing national disaster preparedness and response systems, particularly in logistics readiness and emergency supply chain capacity. The officer will be responsible for the establishment and operationalization of National Humanitarian Response Hubs, which are strategically located to improve the government's ability to manage and deploy relief commodities during crises. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, to ensure that logistics preparedness activities align with national priorities and operational requirements. The Logistics Officer will also contribute to the development of logistics systems, operational frameworks, and capacity strengthening initiatives to ensure effective humanitarian response operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer (Preparedness) will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Supporting the planning and implementation of the National Humanitarian Response Hub project across various sites, providing technical inputs for the installation of Mobile Storage Units (MSUs), site preparation, and warehouse layout optimization.
• Leading the development of logistics preparedness systems and operational frameworks, including multi-agency inventory management systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Conducting Logistics Capacity Assessments (LCA) and contributing to the development of logistics operational plans and concepts of operations.
• Strengthening operational readiness through simulation exercises, training programs, and technical support, including conducting tabletop exercises and identifying operational gaps.
• Coordinating with stakeholders, including government agencies and international partners, to ensure alignment of activities and decision-making processes.
• Monitoring project implementation, documenting lessons learned, and contributing to donor reporting.
• Supporting the transition and handover of hubs to government counterparts and providing ongoing technical assistance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Humanitarian Affairs, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in a relevant field combined with additional years of relevant work experience and/or specialized training may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in logistics, supply chain management, humanitarian operations, or emergency preparedness with an advanced degree, or three years of relevant experience with a first university degree. Experience working with UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, or government institutions is highly desirable, along with demonstrated experience in warehouse operations and logistics coordination.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, or Humanitarian Affairs. A first university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in a relevant field may also be considered if combined with additional relevant work experience or specialized training. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics and supply chain management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in logistics, supply chain management, humanitarian operations, or emergency preparedness for candidates with an advanced university degree. For those with a first university degree, a minimum of three years of relevant experience is required. Experience working with UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, NGOs, or government institutions is highly desirable. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in warehouse operations, logistics coordination, and emergency response activities, as well as the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders in complex environments.

Languages:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the operational context of the WFP in the Philippines or the broader region.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Service Contract at Grade SC-8, with a duration of 12 months and a possibility of extension. It is open to Filipino nationals only. The compensation package includes a monthly salary starting from approximately PHP 100,000.00, medical coverage extendable to eligible dependents, leave benefits, and other applicable entitlements.
