Job Overview:
The Project Manager (Infrastructure) will lead impactful infrastructure projects aimed at transforming communities and driving sustainable development. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the Kiribati-Australia Climate security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Initiative (KACSI), which is expected to run until December 31, 2026, with potential for extension based on funding and performance. The Project Manager will be responsible for monitoring project activities, managing budgets, identifying issues, and developing strategies to overcome challenges. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government ministries, communities, and development partners, to ensure the program achieves maximum impact. The Project Manager will also propose effective implementation strategies, considering local resources and international best practices, while navigating the complexities of working in environments with limited resources and capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be tasked with a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: developing and updating the project implementation plan; implementing the approved plan within the tolerances set by the Project Board; managing the production of required outputs and ensuring quality compliance; liaising with external suppliers to ensure timely delivery; monitoring project progress and controlling variances; identifying and advising on project risks; preparing and adapting plans for approval; maintaining project documentation; ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations; managing stakeholder engagement strategies; preparing regular project and financial reports; and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders. The Project Manager will also be responsible for organizing and structuring the project team, providing guidance and support, and ensuring safety and security for all personnel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in civil, water, electrical, mechanical, structural, or other applicable engineering disciplines, along with 7 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the same fields with 5 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Additionally, project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMI, PEng, CEng) is desired. Candidates should have relevant experience in implementing and managing infrastructure projects, knowledge of infrastructure quality assurance methodologies, and experience in managing project risks in a multi-stakeholder context.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering disciplines or a Master’s degree with a focus on civil, water, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the technical aspects of infrastructure projects and ensuring effective project management.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in managing infrastructure projects, particularly in developing countries or post-conflict environments. Relevant experience includes work on projects such as roads, dams, bridges, and renewable energy initiatives. Familiarity with infrastructure quality assurance methodologies and contract management is also important. Experience in multicultural environments or within UN system organizations is preferred, as is experience in development or humanitarian contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of stakeholder engagement and communication within diverse communities.

The contract for this position is an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) with a regular contract type, set to last until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance.
