Job Overview: The Driver position is crucial for ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of authorized personnel. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and discretion while performing their responsibilities. This role requires the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring that all transportation needs are met efficiently and safely. The Driver will also be responsible for maintaining vehicles and providing administrative and facility support, which includes routine vehicle checks and minor repairs, as well as assisting with procurement processes and facility management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation of authorized personnel and, when necessary, cargo or hazardous goods. Duties include collecting and delivering mail, documents, and other items as required, meeting and assisting assigned personnel at the airport, and maintaining accurate daily vehicle logs. The Driver will perform routine checks on vehicles, ensuring they are kept in good working condition, and will carry out minor repairs while coordinating major repairs as needed. Additionally, the Driver will assist with administrative tasks, including procurement processes, maintaining inventory records, and supporting facility management by arranging minor repairs and liaising with service providers. The role also involves responding promptly to repair and maintenance requests raised by authorized personnel.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary school education (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with no prior experience required. A valid driver's license and completion of driver's training are mandatory. Relevant experience in safe driving, defensive driving, and minor vehicle repair is essential, along with knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Experience working in multicultural environments or within UN system organizations in developing countries is desired, as is experience in development or humanitarian contexts.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a secondary school diploma or equivalent, along with a valid driver's license. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline are also eligible, provided they have no prior experience. Driver's training is a prerequisite for this role, ensuring that candidates are adequately prepared for the responsibilities they will undertake.
