Job Overview:
The Medical Officer will play a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of quality healthcare services at RI-supported health facilities and those of RI's partners. Reporting to the Health & Nutrition technical specialist, the Medical Officer will provide technical support to medical staff, ensuring adherence to established health service standards. This position requires a balance of independent decision-making and teamwork to effectively address complex healthcare challenges. The Medical Officer will be responsible for planning and implementing health activities, monitoring healthcare providers, and ensuring that health services meet established quality standards. The role also involves assessing community health needs, responding to health emergencies, and integrating community health programs into primary healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Officer's duties include leading the implementation of health activities in supported health facilities, providing direct support for the day-to-day running of health services, and monitoring healthcare providers through field visits. They will participate in designing health work plans, identify prevalent epidemic diseases, conduct clinical audits, and ensure compliance with treatment guidelines. Additionally, the Medical Officer will assess the capacity needs of medical staff, participate in recruitment, and organize training for healthcare staff. Collaboration with various teams, including medical commodity officers and WASH teams, is essential to ensure effective healthcare delivery and program integration. The Medical Officer will also be responsible for documentation and reporting, reviewing health facility reports, and participating in data review meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum first degree in Medicine from a recognized institution and have at least 5 years of clinical practice experience in healthcare within Syria, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong knowledge of public health principles and medical protocols is essential, along with experience working with NGOs in humanitarian or developmental contexts. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required, as well as strong computer literacy in programs such as Excel and Word. Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and ethical reliability.

Educational Background:
The position requires a minimum first degree in Medicine from a recognized institution. Post-graduate qualifications in clinical fields or public health are considered advantageous, as is experience in managing health programs in emergencies or low-resource settings.

Experience:
The Medical Officer should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical practice, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a healthcare setting. Experience working with NGOs in humanitarian or developmental contexts is also essential.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as required.
