Job Overview:
The position of Counsellor is crucial for enhancing the mental health and well-being of UN staff and their dependents in Thailand. The role involves providing professional counselling services, both on-site and online, to address psycho-social issues and promote resilience among staff members. The Counsellor will be responsible for designing and delivering training programs focused on stress management, crisis response, and psychological first aid, particularly in the context of ongoing health crises such as pandemics. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders within the UN system to ensure that the counselling services are effective and tailored to the needs of the staff. The Counsellor will also play a key role in monitoring stress factors in the workplace and providing technical advice to senior management to improve the working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Counsellor will have a range of responsibilities including:

• Designing and delivering training programs on stress and crisis management, resilience building, and psychological first aid.
• Revising existing training materials to align with the needs of individuals and the organization.
• Providing individual and group counselling sessions on various issues such as stress management, harassment, substance abuse, and family-related concerns.
• Conducting local training sessions on psychosocial topics relevant to ESCAP personnel.
• Collaborating with the Staff Counsellor's Office to identify training needs and assist in the development of new training materials.
• Offering specialized expertise to support the implementation of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Action Plan.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Medical Officer or relevant supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in clinical psychology, clinical psychiatry, or clinical social work. A minimum of five years of experience in providing psychological counselling or psychotherapy is required. Additional experience in areas such as alcohol/substance abuse, stress management, and conflict resolution is desirable. Candidates should also have training and facilitation skills suitable for diverse audiences, and a clinical license to provide psychological services is preferred. Additional certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is an advanced university degree, specifically a Master's degree or equivalent, in fields related to clinical psychology, clinical psychiatry, or clinical social work. This educational background is essential to ensure that the Counsellor has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to provide effective counselling services.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in psychological counselling or psychotherapy. This experience should ideally include work in areas such as stress management, trauma, and cross-cultural communication. Candidates with additional experience in substance abuse treatment or conflict resolution will have an advantage. The role demands a high level of expertise and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in the Thai language is considered a distinct advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local staff and clients. Knowledge of additional languages is also desirable, as it may enhance the Counsellor's ability to serve a diverse workforce.
