Job Overview:
The IDB Group is seeking an active graduate student for a paid internship opportunity under the Consultant modality. This internship is part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program, which is designed for university students from member countries to gain insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank. Interns will acquire professional-level work experience through on-the-job learning, focusing on legal affairs. The position is based at the IDB Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and is intended for students who are eager to learn and contribute to the Bank's mission. Interns will engage in various legal tasks, including conducting research, drafting legal documents, and supporting attorneys in their legal advisory roles. This internship provides a unique opportunity to understand the intersection of law and development in a multinational context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for conducting legal research and analysis, drafting legal memoranda, and supporting attorneys in providing legal advice on institutional, financial, and operational matters of the Bank. They will draft, review, and edit project documentation, including loan agreements and technical cooperation agreements. Additionally, interns will coordinate with outside law firms and review their legal advice to ensure compliance with the Bank's standards. The role requires a proactive approach to learning and collaboration, as interns will work closely with legal professionals and other stakeholders within the organization. Interns are expected to manage their time effectively and complete assignments within the designated internship period, demonstrating strong analytical and legal drafting skills throughout their tenure.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be active graduate students pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in Law, Public Policy, Public Administration, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field at an accredited university. The expected graduation date must be after the internship period, ensuring that candidates are committed to their academic pursuits while gaining practical experience. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of an IDB member country and should not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest. This internship is intended for first-time participants in the IDB's Internship Program, and candidates should not have previously been staff members or contractors for the Bank or Corporation.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate will be an active graduate student enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program, with a focus on relevant fields such as Law, Public Policy, or International Relations. Candidates should have completed at least 50% of their coursework by the time of application, ensuring they possess a solid foundation in their area of study. Academic transcripts and a university letter certifying student status are required as part of the application process, and these documents must be issued within the last three months to ensure their validity.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in legal affairs and development work.
