Job Overview:
The Programme Specialist, Humanitarian Coordination and Gender-Based Violence will provide essential technical, operational, and coordination support to UNFPA’s humanitarian response and Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) programming in Myanmar. This role is crucial in ensuring that UNFPA's humanitarian efforts are effectively implemented, particularly in addressing the needs of women and girls affected by crises. The incumbent will oversee the provision of quality GBV services, promote access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services during emergencies, and ensure that gender equality remains at the forefront of all activities. The position requires a proactive approach to adapt to the changing political and funding contexts in Myanmar, ensuring that UNFPA's interventions are responsive to the needs of the affected populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

• Technical Support and Programming: Coordinating the planning, implementation, and monitoring of UNFPA’s humanitarian response, ensuring effective liaison with operations and program teams for timely procurement and distribution of emergency kits. Conducting field visits to assess needs and recommend strategic approaches for service delivery.
• Partnerships and Coordination: Leading and coordinating UNFPA's participation in technical working groups, ensuring strong collaboration with humanitarian agencies and stakeholders to facilitate multi-sectoral responses.
• Capacity Building: Providing technical support for the development of training materials and conducting training sessions on SRH and GBV issues.
• Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting: Collaborating with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to analyze program progress, supervise workplans, and ensure compliance with project budgets.
• Advocacy and Policy Development: Supporting the development of advocacy documents to address SRH and GBV issues at national and sub-national levels.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Humanitarian Assistance, Gender Studies, Social Work, Public/Community Health, Law, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates should have at least seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in GBV coordination, program management, and advocacy, with a strong understanding of international human rights standards and gender issues in humanitarian contexts. Experience in utilizing international tools related to GBV and SRH is essential, along with a proven track record in developing and implementing gender and GBV-related policies.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Humanitarian Assistance, Gender Studies, Social Work, Public/Community Health, Law, or other related disciplines is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian programming and gender-based violence issues.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience, including significant experience in GBV coordination and program management. Candidates should have a demonstrated history of working on gender issues in development and humanitarian contexts, particularly in complex emergencies. Field experience in humanitarian response is considered an asset, as is experience in advocating for gender and GBV-related policies at various levels.

Languages:
