Job Overview: The Partnerships Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing partnership and programme development plans for the office. This role emphasizes building and maintaining effective relationships with governments, UN agencies, donors, and other stakeholders to mobilize resources and expand the office’s portfolio. The Partnerships Specialist ensures that partnership initiatives align with UNOPS’ global and regional priorities and contribute to sustainable results, supporting the achievement of the office’s strategic objectives. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and leveraging opportunities for collaboration and resource mobilization, ensuring that the office remains a reliable partner in development and implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive partnership and programme development plan aligned with the UNOPS Strategic Plan and Regional Strategies, analyzing the country context and identifying key partners.
Monitor and analyze humanitarian and development trends to identify areas of collaboration.
Research and track events and publications to screen opportunities for new partnerships.
Advise UNOPS HQ and the Regional Office on developing framework partnership agreements.
Manage and maintain partnership opportunities and engagement records in ERP.
Coordinate technical and financial inputs for new project proposals.
Establish and strengthen partnerships with UN agencies, international organizations, and private-sector actors.
Participate in inter-agency, donor, and government coordination forums.
Implement standards and tools provided by HQ to enhance project development. 1
Facilitate knowledge sharing and contribute to the dissemination of lessons learned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with 5 years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience in international development, including partnership and programme development, project development, and proposal writing.
Experience in establishing partnerships with UN agencies, international organizations, and governments.
Desired experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country, as well as in development or humanitarian contexts.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline is required, along with significant relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of five years of relevant experience is acceptable. This educational background ensures that candidates possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform effectively in the role.
Experience: Candidates must have relevant experience in international development, particularly in executing partnership and programme development plans, project development, and proposal writing. Experience in establishing partnerships with UN agencies, international development organizations, and governments is essential. Additionally, experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country is desired, as well as experience in project and programme management.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners in the international development context.
