Job Overview:
The WFP Monitoring Assistant position is crucial for the effective monitoring and evaluation of WFP activities, including General Food Assistance, School Feeding, Nutrition, and Livelihoods/Asset Creation. The role involves coordinating and conducting monitoring activities, verifying the movement and distribution of food and non-food items, and ensuring compliance with WFP monitoring standards. The Monitoring Assistant will also engage in regular communication with community stakeholders to identify program bottlenecks and support smooth field implementation. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the WFP Monitoring Assistant include:
  • Coordinating and conducting monitoring of WFP activities, ensuring compliance with monitoring standards and accountability frameworks.
  • Verifying the movement and distribution of food and non-food items, resolving routine issues, and escalating as necessary.
  • Documenting monitoring findings, risks, good practices, and follow-up actions in reports and checklists.
  • Collecting, validating, and summarizing monitoring data using corporate tools.
  • Collaborating with Cooperating Partners and Third-Party Monitors to gather program data and validate findings.
  • Preparing high-quality monitoring reports, dashboards, and analytical summaries.
  • Liaising with community stakeholders to gather feedback and identify program bottlenecks.
  • Organizing meetings with community leaders and partners regarding distribution plans and related issues.
  • Providing technical guidance to partners on monitoring methodology and reporting. 1
  • Supporting timely verification and tracking of feedback and complaints received. 1
  • Delivering training and capacity support to monitoring staff and partners on WFP monitoring tools and processes. 1
  • Recommending improvements to monitoring processes and workflows for enhanced efficiency. 1
  • Performing any other monitoring tasks as assigned by the VAME focal point or other supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the WFP Monitoring Assistant position include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in program monitoring and evaluation, data management, and field monitoring.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats in Afghanistan’s formal languages and fluency in English.
