Job Overview:
The position of Consultant for Supporting the Implementation of Intersectoral Initiatives involves providing technical and management support for the implementation of intersectoral initiatives developed by the Culture and Science sectors of UNESCO in Santiago. The consultant will work under the authority of the Office Director and directly supervise the Program Specialist responsible for the Culture Sector, in coordination with the Program Specialist of the Science Sector. The consultant's role is crucial in planning, coordinating, producing, monitoring, and following up on activities and projects, as well as articulating with public institutions, academia, civil society organizations, and other strategic partners. The consultant will contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives that address challenges such as climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and the promotion of indigenous and local knowledge, ensuring that responses are integrated, knowledge-based, culturally diverse, and actively involve communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: supporting the planning, coordination, implementation, and follow-up of intersectoral initiatives and projects developed by the Culture and Science sectors; assisting in the technical, logistical, and administrative coordination of seminars, workshops, technical meetings, consultations, missions, campaigns, and other activities related to intersectoral projects; monitoring the implementation of initiatives related to indigenous and local knowledge for climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, community resilience, and sustainable territory management; facilitating activities aimed at strengthening intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, participation of indigenous peoples and local communities, cultural diversity, and building a culture of peace; contributing to initiatives that promote creativity and culture as tools for social appropriation of sciences, education, public awareness, and sustainable development; preparing work plans, schedules, monitoring matrices, minutes, technical reports, memory aids, presentations, and other necessary documents for the management, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives; supporting the technical and administrative follow-up of projects, including monitoring compliance with activities, schedules, indicators, budgets, and committed products; coordinating and communicating with ministries, public institutions, universities, research centers, indigenous peoples' organizations, civil society organizations, international agencies, and other strategic partners involved in project implementation; preparing technical and programmatic reports required by the UNESCO Santiago Office and Headquarters, contributing to the collection, organization, and systematization of information for tracking results; and performing other related functions as assigned to support the implementation of the intersectoral Science and Culture program of the Office.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a demonstrated ability in project management, coordination, or implementation of international cooperation projects. Candidates should have experience in organizing and producing meetings, seminars, workshops, and institutional events. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to monitor, follow up, and provide administrative support for projects. Knowledge of interdisciplinary approaches related to culture, sciences, and sustainable development is essential. Familiarity or experience in areas such as indigenous and local knowledge, climate change, disaster risk reduction, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, peace culture, or social appropriation of sciences is highly valued. Excellent writing skills and the ability to prepare technical reports and management documents are also required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and multicultural environments, along with excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in social sciences, anthropology, cultural management, environmental sciences, geography, international relations, project management, development studies, or other related disciplines. A postgraduate qualification will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have proven experience in managing, coordinating, or implementing international cooperation projects. Experience in organizing and producing meetings, seminars, workshops, and institutional events is also required.

Languages:
Proficiency in both oral and written Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy will last for five (5) months and will be conducted under a contract modality focused on deliverables. The work will be carried out in a mixed format, with in-person attendance required for certain activities and virtual participation when appropriate.
