Job Overview: The position of International Consultant to Provide Capacity Building on Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Management is designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of women leaders in Moldova, particularly women MPs and mayors. The consultant will be responsible for developing and delivering training courses that focus on negotiation techniques, mediation strategies, and conflict management tailored specifically for women in leadership roles. This role is crucial in addressing the underrepresentation of women in decision-making processes and aims to empower them with the necessary skills to navigate political landscapes effectively. The consultant will work closely with UN Women Moldova to ensure that the training aligns with international standards and best practices, fostering an environment where women can thrive as leaders and decision-makers.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Developing comprehensive learning modules and methodologies on negotiation, mediation, and conflict management that align with international standards.
Delivering up to six training sessions for groups of up to 20 participants each, ensuring that the content is engaging and relevant.
Creating pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate participants' knowledge and skills before and after the training.
Preparing a Final Report summarizing the outcomes of the training, including lessons learned and recommendations for future capacity-building initiatives.
Collaborating closely with the UN Women team, reporting to the Programme Specialist, and ensuring that all deliverables are met in a timely manner.
Engaging in continuous feedback and improvement processes to enhance the training experience for participants.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in fields such as International Relations, Law, Political Science, Conflict Resolution, Public Administration, or Psychology. Additionally, certification in negotiation, mediation, or conflict resolution is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The consultant should have a strong background in designing and delivering experiential training programs, particularly for senior officials and executives, with a focus on negotiation and conflict management.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered if they have additional qualifying experience. Certification in negotiation, mediation, or conflict resolution is mandatory, ensuring that the consultant has the necessary expertise to deliver high-quality training.
Experience: A minimum of five years of proven experience in designing and delivering training programs focused on negotiation, mediation, and conflict management is essential. The consultant should have experience working with senior officials, parliamentarians, or executives, and should be familiar with the use of simulations and role-plays in training settings. Experience in political or institutional negotiation environments is advantageous, as is experience working with women leaders and understanding the gender dynamics involved in negotiation and conflict resolution.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, as the training will be conducted in English. Knowledge of Romanian or any other UN official language is considered an asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of participants.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, with the expectation of up to six trips to Chisinau for training delivery. The contract duration is flexible, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. Compensation will be based on a per-day rate, with payments made upon satisfactory completion of services and approval of deliverables. The consultant will be required to adhere to UN Women’s policies and standards of conduct, including a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
