Job Overview:
The Financial Officer position is situated within the Treasury Operations Department (TREOP) of the World Bank Group, specifically in the Quantitative Modeling and Market Data Research (TREQM) team. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing quantitative models and financial solutions that support various business units within the World Bank Group. The Financial Officer will engage in pre-trade analysis, pricing, valuation, and exposure calculations, contributing to the design and execution of new capital market transactions. The position requires collaboration with multiple internal teams to ensure the validation and verification of financial models, as well as the timely delivery of valuations for complex financial contracts. The Financial Officer will also play a key role in market data research and the configuration of new markets, ensuring that the Treasury's operations are aligned with the latest market developments and technological advancements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Financial Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: contributing to the design and implementation of quantitative financial valuation models and tools; collaborating with the Finance & Accounting department for model validation and verification; engaging with internal units to secure transaction approvals; delivering timely valuations for complex financial contracts; participating in discussions with auditors as a subject matter expert; contributing to Treasury Systems design and development; conducting market data research and configuration; providing analytical support for financial solutions; responding to client inquiries related to capital markets; and providing training and guidance to junior staff. The role may also involve additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, physics, or engineering, along with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in valuation models and financial platform implementation. A strong theoretical and practical understanding of derivative instruments, capital markets, and market data is essential. Proven analytical skills in valuing complex structures, knowledge of econometric and financial modeling techniques, and experience with multi-factor Monte Carlo simulation techniques and option pricing methodologies are also required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM are strongly preferred, along with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, VBA, Matlab, or R.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field, which may include finance, mathematics, physics, or engineering. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complex financial models and quantitative analysis that the role entails. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered, provided they meet the necessary qualifications and skills outlined in the job description.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, particularly in the areas of valuation models, interest rate derivatives, and financial platform implementation. Experience managing financial IT implementations and deployments is highly preferred, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate complex financial systems and contribute effectively to the Treasury's operations.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, which is essential for communication within the World Bank Group and with external stakeholders. A second language is considered a plus, as it may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a diverse range of clients and partners across different regions.
