Job Overview: The Director, Brand, Communications & Influence will play a crucial role in leading the Marketing & Communications team at Save the Children Canada. This position is responsible for shaping and executing strategic communications and public relations efforts that elevate the organization's mission and strengthen its reputation. The Director will oversee the development and execution of brand strategies, media outreach, content creation, and public relations campaigns aimed at fostering awareness and engagement with Save the Children's mission. This role requires collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure that all communications align with the organization's values and goals, ultimately driving awareness and inspiring greater involvement from donors and the community. The Director will lead a team to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and manage relationships with key media partners, positioning Save the Children as a trusted leader in the sector.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Director will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: developing and implementing comprehensive brand strategies that align with Save the Children Canada's vision; conducting market research to understand consumer behavior and industry trends; monitoring and analyzing brand performance metrics; planning and executing multi-channel brand campaigns; leading team collaboration to develop compelling campaign content; managing influencer partnerships; overseeing the organization's website development and maintenance; implementing SEO strategies; leading media strategies to enhance the organization's public profile; building relationships with media outlets; creating media products; overseeing public relations activities; leading integrated communication strategies; managing crisis communication plans; supporting the CEO's office in strategic communications; and providing financial reports and insights to support decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 5-7 years of management experience in marketing and communications. Experience in the International Development sector, particularly within NGOs or not-for-profit organizations, is preferred. Candidates should have exceptional communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences. Experience in maintaining brand voice and messaging consistency across platforms is essential, as is expertise in drafting internal and external communications. Strong project management skills and proficiency with MS Office tools are required, along with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Candidates should demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to think creatively and support innovative initiatives.
Educational Background: A relevant post-secondary education is required for this position, which may include degrees in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Equivalent experience in a similar role may also be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5-7 years of management experience, particularly in leading marketing and communications efforts. Experience in the International Development sector or within NGOs is highly desirable, as is experience in people management, especially in a unionized environment. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully executing marketing and communications strategies and managing teams effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic is considered an asset. Strong communication skills in multiple languages will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a 14-month contract to cover maternity leave. The salary range for this role is between $98,594.73 - $116,449.57 CAD, depending on skills and experience.
