Job Overview: The Young Professional Officer (Finance) position is situated within the Finance Division (CSF) at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy. This role is pivotal in supporting financial oversight, reporting, and analysis within the Finance Division. The officer will be responsible for conducting research, performing technical analysis, and providing project-related services to ensure the effective delivery of assigned projects, products, and services. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports that reflect the financial status of the organization, and ensuring compliance with established financial policies and procedures. The Young Professional Officer will work closely with a Senior Finance Officer and will be involved in various financial operations across the organization, ensuring that financial resources are managed securely and productively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Young Professional Officer (Finance) include:
Analyzing relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, and technological information, data, and statistics for input into various documents.
Maintaining records and updating databases and web pages to ensure accurate and accessible financial information.
Collaborating in the development of training tools and materials, as well as organizing workshops and seminars to enhance financial literacy within the organization.
Participating in the organization and follow-up of meetings, consultations, and conferences, producing required materials, and providing information and assistance to partners.
Collecting, reviewing for accuracy, and analyzing financial information and internal financial controls to support the delivery of various financial services and activities.
Analyzing financial and investment data to support informed financial decisions.
Participating in the development of improved work methods and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.
Engaging in special project or work teams to contribute to broader organizational goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in finance, business, or a related field, or a first degree in similar areas coupled with a professional qualification linked to risk management or investments (such as CPA, CA, FRM, CFA, etc.).
At least one year of relevant experience in accounting, finance, investments, or a related field.
A working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in finance, business, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates may possess a first degree in similar areas along with a professional qualification related to risk management or investments. This educational foundation is essential for understanding complex financial concepts and practices relevant to the role.
Experience: Candidates are expected to have at least one year of relevant experience in accounting, finance, investments, or a related field. This experience should demonstrate the ability to apply financial principles and practices effectively in a professional setting, contributing to the organization's financial oversight and reporting functions.
Languages: The mandatory language requirement for this position is a working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English.
