Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project titled 'Strengthening Labour Migration Governance in Thailand for Resilience, Inclusion and Evidence-Based Planning (THRIVE)'. This project aims to enhance the governance of labour migration in Thailand by assisting national institutions in utilizing evidence-based research and inclusive digital systems. The Project Assistant will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and the National Project Officer, providing essential administrative, logistical, and programmatic support. The role involves coordinating project events, engaging with stakeholders, maintaining project documentation, and monitoring the progress of project activities. The Project Assistant will also facilitate the operational processes necessary for the effective delivery of project outputs, ensuring that all activities align with the project's objectives and contribute to the overall mission of IOM in promoting safe and orderly migration.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant include: assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities; retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics; supporting the administrative coordination of project implementation by liaising with various organizational units and external parties; organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions; monitoring contracts and budgets, verifying the availability of funds, obtaining necessary approvals, and updating budget-related information; drafting status reports that identify shortfalls in delivery; drafting correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, presentations, and other documentation; responding to general information requests and inquiries; setting up and maintaining files and records; and performing other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Migration Studies, Development Studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a High School diploma and four years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. The role requires strong organizational, coordination, and time management skills, as well as strong drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to monitor project activities, contracts, deliverables, and deadlines, and have experience supporting procurement, financial, and administrative processes.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, International Relations, Migration Studies, or Development Studies from an accredited institution. Candidates with a High School diploma may qualify if they have sufficient relevant professional experience. The educational qualifications must be from institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the candidates have received a quality education that meets international standards.
Experience: The position requires experience supporting project implementation, coordination, and administration in a multi-stakeholder environment. Candidates should have experience in organizing events, workshops, consultations, or training sessions. Familiarity with labour migration, social inclusion, and migrant protection is considered an advantage. Experience in data collection, information management, or reporting is also desirable. Additionally, candidates with experience working with international organizations, development agencies, or UN organizations will be preferred, as this background will provide valuable insights into the operational context of IOM.
Languages: Fluency in English and Thai is required for this position, both oral and written. All IOM staff members are required to be fluent in one of the organization's official languages, which include English, French, and Spanish. Working knowledge of Karen and/or Burmese is desirable and will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the language proficiency requirements necessary for effective communication within the role.
Additional Notes: This position is classified under the General Service (G-4) category, with a monthly salary of THB 60,500.2
The appointment is for a One Year Fixed-Term Contract, with an initial duration of 12 months and the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
