Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to provide practical experience in the fields of global health protection and health systems strengthening within an international humanitarian context. The intern will have the opportunity to engage with various technical, operational, and policy aspects of IFRC's support to National Societies and their communities. This includes involvement in critical health areas such as first aid, malaria prevention, immunization efforts, mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS), harm reduction strategies, and the intersection of climate and health. The intern will gain insights into the Global Health Protection Pillar, which focuses on enhancing health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and universal health coverage, thereby contributing to the overall mission of the IFRC.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the assigned manager, the intern will assist the Health Systems Strengthening Team in implementing IFRC's Global Health Protection and Universal Health Coverage agenda. Specific responsibilities include preparing presentations, summarizing meetings, and drafting concept notes. The intern will contribute to documenting and disseminating good practices, lessons learned, and case studies from National Society experiences. Additionally, the intern will help maintain information management systems, trackers, and repositories related to Global Health Protection initiatives. The role also involves developing communication and advocacy materials that showcase the contributions of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies in global health protection. Participation in departmental meetings, learning opportunities, and cross-functional initiatives will provide further exposure to IFRC's health programming and humanitarian operations. The intern may also undertake special projects that align with the objectives of the Health and Care Department and the Global Health Protection Pillar. All staff members are expected to actively work towards achieving the Federation Secretariat’s goals, adhere to Red Cross and Red Crescent principles, and perform any other work-related duties assigned by their line manager.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program or have graduated within the last year in a field relevant to IFRC's activities. This educational background should align with the organization's focus on health and humanitarian work, ensuring that the intern possesses foundational knowledge applicable to the role.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be pursuing or have recently completed a degree in a relevant field such as public health, international relations, humanitarian studies, or a related discipline that supports the mission and activities of the IFRC.
