Job Overview:
The Information Technology and Management Intern will play a crucial role in supporting UNEP's Ecosystems Division, particularly within the Source to Sea Pollution Unit. This position is designed to assist in the management and enhancement of the Global Plastics Hub, which is a key initiative aimed at addressing plastic pollution and marine litter. The intern will be involved in various tasks, including plastic lifecycle data analysis, optimization of the Global Plastics Hub, and monitoring user engagement. The overall objective is to contribute to the successful implementation of UNEP's projects that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean water and marine life. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer, gaining valuable experience in environmental management and information technology.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include: assisting with plastic lifecycle data analysis by identifying new datasets and recommending optimal approaches for data integration and visualization; supporting the optimization and migration of the Global Plastics Hub by learning its architecture and codebase, cleaning outdated data, and providing technical assistance; enhancing the Global Plastics Hub by identifying and resolving bugs and improving functionalities; and monitoring user engagement and conducting user data analysis to improve outreach activities. These responsibilities are essential for the effective management of the Global Plastics Hub and the overall success of UNEP's initiatives related to plastic pollution.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in a related field is desirable but not mandatory. The position requires a strong understanding of data analysis, information technology systems, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Technical skills in data visualization and software development are highly advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant area is considered a plus, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex IT systems and environmental management.

Experience:
The position is suitable for individuals who are at the beginning of their careers, particularly recent graduates or students in their final year of study. While prior experience in a professional setting is not explicitly required, any internships or projects related to information technology, data analysis, or environmental management will be beneficial. Languages:
