Job Overview: The Associate Investment Officer position within the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) sector of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a critical role that involves originating, structuring, executing, and supervising investment projects across the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. The selected candidate will be integral to business development and portfolio management, engaging in activities such as restructurings, reschedulings, capital increases, and equity supervision. The role requires a demonstrated track record of leading complex investment transactions from origination through commitment and portfolio supervision, ideally across multiple sectors within MAS. The candidate will work closely with the Central America and Caribbean MAS Hub Lead and the WBG country team to identify priority companies for IFC's investment, develop a local network with target companies and financial institutions, and lead transaction execution and portfolio management activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of impactful investment solutions that address the needs of the private sector in emerging markets.
Duties and Responsibilities: The specific responsibilities of the Associate Investment Officer include, but are not limited to: supporting or leading business development efforts across the MAS sector in the assigned country; collaborating with the Central America and Caribbean MAS Hub Lead and WBG country team to identify priority companies for IFC investment; actively developing a local network with target companies, financial institutions, financial advisors, and credit agencies; leading transaction execution and portfolio management activities across the MAS LAC region; evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and closing new investment transactions; managing portfolio restructurings, reschedulings, capital increases, and equity sales; developing innovative financial structures for complex transactions; participating in negotiations to achieve successful outcomes; working independently while collaborating with senior colleagues to build a strong pipeline of high-quality investment opportunities; mentoring and coaching junior investment staff; disseminating best practices within the team; collaborating with various internal partners to deliver integrated client solutions; and engaging with World Bank colleagues on MAS-related issues.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree and have a minimum of 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in investment, corporate finance, private equity, commercial banking, development finance, or other relevant financial institutions. A proven track record of sourcing, structuring, and closing investments across multiple MAS sectors is essential. Extensive experience in investment execution, portfolio supervision, restructurings, and client relationship management is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong financial, credit, and analytical skills, with experience structuring a broad range of debt and equity investments and executing complex transactions. Strong business development and client relationship management skills are necessary, along with the ability to originate investment opportunities and build long-term client relationships. Candidates should also have the ability to develop innovative financial solutions for complex transactions and possess strong judgment to make sound investment recommendations in dynamic situations.
Educational Background: A Master's degree is required for this position, which should be complemented by relevant coursework or training in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.
