Job Overview:
The Project Assistant (Reintegration) will be contributing to the Protection Unit, specifically within the Reintegration Sub-unit. Under the overall supervision of the National Officer (Reintegration), the successful candidate will support the implementation of reintegration projects. This role requires the candidate to provide additional support to other Protection projects and teams, ensuring effective coordination with other programmatic units within the mission. The position is crucial for the successful execution of project activities, requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to the organization's mission of supporting vulnerable populations, including migrants and refugees. The Project Assistant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, manage project documentation, and assist in monitoring project budgets, thereby playing a vital role in the overall success of the reintegration initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will perform a variety of tasks under this contract, including but not limited to: providing general and clerical assistance in the implementation of project activities; retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics; assisting in monitoring and updating budget-related information; supporting administrative coordination for project implementation, which involves liaising with diverse organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow up on administrative actions; drafting status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation; organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions; responding to general information requests and inquiries; setting up and maintaining files and records; and performing other related duties as assigned. This comprehensive set of responsibilities ensures that the Project Assistant plays a key role in the smooth operation and success of the reintegration projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a school diploma with three years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience. Additionally, candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multi-cultural setting is considered an advantage. Candidates should also demonstrate skills in working with vulnerable groups, provision of protection activities, and possess proven analytical, interpersonal, mediation, and organizational skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes either a school diploma with three years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of migration and the various factors affecting vulnerable populations.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position includes at least three years of relevant experience for candidates with a school diploma or one year of relevant professional experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities and working with migrants and vulnerable groups. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous, as it provides the necessary context for understanding the challenges faced by the populations served by IOM.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, as it is one of IOM's official languages. Additionally, knowledge of Amharic or Afan Oromo is required, both oral and written. Proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. Knowledge of French or Spanish is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified as an affiliate contractor role, and IOM covers affiliate contractors against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP) free of charge for the duration of the consultancy. However, IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents and illnesses, and affiliate contractors are responsible for their own medical insurance for such cases. Candidates must provide written proof of medical coverage before commencing work. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation, and the appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, accreditation, residency or visa requirements, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security clearances.
