Job Overview:
The Senior Project Associate will play a crucial role under the Peace, Recovery and Solutions Division (PRSD) of IOM Iraq, implementing an integrated Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, and Reintegration (RRR) – Durable Solutions (DS) approach. This position is focused on supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees in achieving safe, dignified, and sustainable solutions. The role involves close collaboration with field officers and requires the individual to monitor project implementation, manage budgets, conduct analyses, report on progress, coordinate with stakeholders, and build capacity within the team. The Senior Project Associate will also document lessons learned and support project development, ensuring that activities related to durable solutions and reintegration are effectively executed on the ground.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Associate will independently lead and coordinate the implementation of durable solutions and reintegration projects. Key responsibilities include monitoring the implementation of activities to ensure they align with established plans, analyzing any difficulties encountered during implementation, and making recommendations for adjustments as necessary. The role requires regular research and compilation of data on national, regional, and international developments, as well as monitoring budget expenditures and maintaining proper records of project budgets. The Senior Project Associate will also coordinate capacity-building workshops, participate in meetings with various stakeholders, prepare correspondence and reports, and supervise and provide guidance to reporting staff. Additional duties may include identifying good practices, contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and supporting the development of new projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a completed High School degree from an accredited institution with seven years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, and NGOs, as well as working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees, is essential. Proven experience in assessments, field-based research, and programmatic impact monitoring is also required, along with skills in report drafting and data visualization.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited institution. Candidates with a High School diploma may also apply if they have the requisite years of experience. Accreditation of the educational institution must be verified through the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, and internally displaced persons is crucial, as is prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations. Candidates should have proven experience in designing and implementing assessments, conducting field-based research, and monitoring programmatic impacts. Familiarity with Durable Solutions and Reintegration programming, as well as experience in post-conflict environments, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for all IOM staff members, as it is one of the organization's official languages. Proficiency in Arabic and Kurdish is considered an advantage. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the necessary communication standards.

Additional Notes:
The position may involve a range of contract durations and is subject to funding confirmation. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
