Job Overview: The Investment Officer – Portfolio, Data and AI Transformation Lead will play a crucial role in overseeing a fast-growing portfolio of long-term sustainable investments while shaping the integration of AI and data-driven decision-making within the IFC. This position is particularly focused on the MAS Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe (MAS LAC Europe) region, which currently manages a portfolio of approximately US$11.2 billion. The officer will be responsible for enhancing efficiency, risk management, and decision-making processes across both portfolio management and new business initiatives. The role requires a blend of investment expertise, data analytics, and AI capabilities to drive the responsible deployment of technology in investment operations, ensuring that IFC maintains its commitment to sustainable development and ethical standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Investment Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including: A. Portfolio Oversight & Risk Management: Actively manage the portfolio by overseeing performance metrics such as credit quality, profitability, environmental and social compliance, development impact, and climate alignment. Provide data-driven portfolio monitoring reports and analyses, combining IFC's rating methodologies with external data to track trends and identify risks. Lead portfolio reviews and management reporting, ensuring quality decision-making across portfolio actions. Support investment and portfolio teams in credit rating assessments and submissions, guiding junior staff in building analytical capabilities. B. AI & Data-Driven Transformation: Lead the deployment of AI and automation to enhance efficiency across the investment lifecycle, driving the adoption of AI in analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, risk assessment, and portfolio monitoring. Ensure AI solutions align with IFC standards and promote knowledge sharing across regional initiatives. C. Client Management & Portfolio Optimization: Manage key client relationships, oversee equity portfolio performance, and optimize the risk-return profile of the portfolio. D. Innovation, Knowledge & Capability Building: Mentor junior staff, promote best practices in portfolio management and AI use, and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams. E. Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to IFC policies and coordinate with various teams to address portfolio risks and compliance gaps.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent qualification, along with at least 12 years of experience in investment operations, demonstrating a strong track record in debt and equity transactions. A deep understanding of IFC processes, portfolio management, and credit risk frameworks is essential, along with the ability to exercise sound credit judgment and independent decision-making. Strong experience in using structured and unstructured data to support investment decisions is required, as well as hands-on experience in automation and data analytics tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Familiarity with AI tools and their application in investment analysis and risk assessment is also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, which may encompass finance, economics, business administration, or a related discipline. This advanced education is crucial for understanding complex investment operations and the analytical skills needed for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in investment operations, with a proven track record in managing debt and equity transactions. Candidates should have substantial experience in portfolio management and a deep understanding of credit risk frameworks, demonstrating their ability to make informed investment decisions and manage complex portfolios effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese. These language skills are essential for effective communication within the diverse teams and client interactions that the role entails. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
