Job Overview:
The UN Intern - Policy Analysis position is designed for motivated individuals who are eager to support the Rule of Law Unit within the Executive Office of the Secretary-General. Interns will work closely with full-time professional staff, gaining valuable experience in policy analysis and international relations. The internship is expected to last for three months and will involve a range of tasks that contribute to the UN's mission of promoting the rule of law and human rights globally. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful work that supports senior-level management meetings, conferences, and retreats, while also developing their skills in research, analysis, and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the preparation of senior-level management meetings, conferences, and retreats; assisting in the creation of background and option papers focused on rule of law issues; tracking and analyzing decisions and their implementation; preparing speeches, talking points, and meeting materials; compiling meeting notes and summaries; monitoring and analyzing global trends related to rule of law and human rights; and producing weekly reports on pertinent developments in these areas. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively with others in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: they must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (such as a Master's degree or equivalent, Ph.D., or post-graduate degree), or they must be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent). While no prior work experience is required, applicants should possess skills and knowledge in areas such as rule of law, human rights, international affairs, and gender equality. Attention to detail and a passion for leadership support are also essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a strong educational background relevant to the position. This includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or the final year of a Bachelor's degree program. Fields of study that are particularly relevant include law, international relations, human rights, and public policy.
