Job Overview: The Principal Full Stack Developer position at EBRD is a pivotal role that involves leading the development of high-impact, enterprise-grade applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the technical direction of projects, utilizing Java (Spring Boot) and Angular to create scalable, cloud-native applications. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can think strategically while also being deeply involved in coding and development. The developer will be expected to implement modern architectural practices, including microservices and containerization, and to champion continuous delivery in the cloud. Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal Full Stack Developer will lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade applications. Key responsibilities include:
Leading the development of full-stack applications using Java (Spring Boot) and Angular, ensuring adherence to microservices architecture.
Providing technical leadership in API development, utilizing RESTful services and ensuring proper documentation through Open API and Swagger.
Implementing DevOps practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure automation with tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
Overseeing the quality assurance processes, defining quality metrics, and establishing automated testing frameworks.
Managing incident response and observability strategies to ensure system performance and uptime.
Defining and evolving the enterprise-wide architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with cloud-native practices.
Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives and mentoring team members to foster a culture of technical excellence.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. They should have expert-level proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Angular, with extensive experience in enterprise-scale frontend development. A mastery of software development lifecycle (SDLC), software architecture, and design principles is essential. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of performance optimization, security best practices, and experience with micro frontend architecture. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerization (Docker) is required, along with the ability to define API contracts and work closely with backend teams.
Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software development principles and practices, with a focus on full-stack development.
Experience: The position requires extensive experience in software development, particularly in full-stack environments. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading development projects and mentoring junior developers. Experience with enterprise-scale applications and familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the EBRD. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This is a fixed-term contract for a duration of three years. The position is full-time and based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
