Job Overview: The position of E T Consultant, Investment Analyst within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is crucial for supporting the development of new business, transaction completion, and portfolio management in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. The consultant will be integrated into a team that focuses on evaluating and structuring investments, conducting market research, and providing analytical support to Investment Officers. The role requires a strong understanding of fundamental business concepts and practices, as well as the ability to produce various written outputs. The work program is diverse and may involve complex evaluations and original thinking, making it essential for the consultant to be adaptable and proactive in their approach. The consultant will also play a key role in monitoring the operational and financial performance of client companies, ensuring compliance with IFC requirements, and maintaining quality client relationships to enhance business opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the E T Consultant include creating analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis models, supporting the structuring of new investments, analyzing historical and projected financial statements, and preparing periodic portfolio reports. The consultant will conduct industry and market research to assist in IFC’s business development efforts, monitor the operational and financial performance of client companies to evaluate risk, and recommend active portfolio management actions. Additionally, the consultant will prepare documentation for IFC internal processes, monitor compliance with financial, environmental, and legal requirements, establish and maintain quality client relationships, participate in investment negotiations, liaise with colleagues across departments and regions, and participate in the monitoring of investments in portfolio companies.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with a specialization in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. Candidates should preferably have at least 1-2 years of experience in finance, banking, portfolio management, or consulting, ideally with a major financial institution, rating agency, or consulting firm. A good knowledge of financial markets, particularly in Latin America, is a plus. Strong financial analysis and modeling skills using Microsoft Excel are essential, along with the ability to identify key issues. Candidates should possess sound numerical, analytical, and conceptual skills encompassing finance, investment, portfolio management, and corporate finance. A commitment to economic development and a keen interest in development finance in emerging markets are also important.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as business, finance, accounting, or economics. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the foundational knowledge necessary to perform the analytical and financial tasks required in this role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in finance, banking, portfolio management, or consulting. This experience should ideally be gained in a major financial institution, rating agency, or consulting firm, providing the candidate with the necessary skills and insights into the financial sector and investment processes.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position, as the candidate must be able to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
