Job Overview:
The Digital Communications Assistant will play a crucial role in enhancing WHO's digital presence and public engagement in Guinea-Bissau. This position involves managing WHO's social media platforms, developing digital content calendars, and producing various multimedia communication materials. The assistant will be responsible for creating engaging content that promotes WHO and government-led health initiatives, ensuring effective communication during campaigns and public health events. The role also includes monitoring digital engagement and media trends to support evidence-based communication, thereby strengthening WHO's visibility and outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Digital Communications Assistant will manage and regularly update WHO's social media platforms, develop and implement digital content calendars aligned with WHO priorities, and produce digital communication materials such as graphics, infographics, and multimedia products. The assistant will also produce and edit short videos and interviews for health campaigns, develop innovative digital communication ideas, create engaging multimedia content, support the development of press releases and web stories, monitor digital engagement and misinformation, and manage the WHO country office website. Additionally, the assistant will engage in activities that promote volunteerism and community engagement, contributing to the UN Volunteers programme.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong digital communication skills, including proficiency in social media management and multimedia content creation. They should demonstrate creativity in developing communication strategies and have the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities are essential. Candidates should also have a commitment to WHO's values and mission, with a results-oriented work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A degree in communications, public health, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in digital communication, social media management, or public health communication would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in digital communication, social media management, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations or in public health communication is preferred. Familiarity with multimedia production tools and techniques is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as it is the official language of Guinea-Bissau. Proficiency in English and/or French is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The contract duration is subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The volunteer will receive a monthly living allowance to cover housing and living expenses, as well as health insurance for up to three dependents. Additional benefits include a settling-in grant for travel to the duty station and a Well-Being Differential for non-family duty stations classified as hardship categories D or E.
