Job Overview: The Junior Graphic Designer position at FHI 360 is a full-time role based in Bangkok, Thailand, within the Design Lab 360, the organization’s in-house creative studio. This position is designed for an early-career designer who is passionate about design and social impact. The Junior Graphic Designer will work under the guidance of an Art Director and will be responsible for supporting the creative team in developing visually engaging and brand-consistent materials across both digital and print platforms. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create materials that effectively communicate ideas. Typical assignments include designing and formatting PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, publications, branding materials, brochures, training curricula, toolkits, posters, and web-based communications that support FHI 360’s global work across various sectors such as health, education, civil society, environment, economic development, and research.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Junior Graphic Designer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including designing visual materials such as social media graphics, presentations, reports, infographics, event materials, publications, marketing collateral, and digital assets. They will create, design, and maintain branded Microsoft PowerPoint and Word templates, presentations, and documents. The designer will assist senior designers and creative leads in developing concepts and executing creative solutions, as well as prepare production-ready files for both print and digital distribution. They will adapt existing designs to different formats, sizes, languages, and communication channels while ensuring brand consistency. Additionally, the designer will be responsible for mock-up creation for various offline formats, such as roll-ups and backdrops for partners or internal departments. They will also create a wide range of online materials, including rich banner ads and online content for social media campaigns, while considering user experience and optimizing designs for different channels. The designer will manage multiple assignments simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards, while organizing and maintaining project files and creative assets. Staying informed of current design trends, tools, and best practices is also essential, as is proposing innovative approaches to various communications and design assignments.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. They should have 1-3 years of professional graphic design experience, which can include employment, internships, freelance work, or a strong portfolio. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, is required. A demonstrated understanding of design principles such as typography, layout, color theory, composition, and visual hierarchy is essential. Experience in designing for both print and digital platforms is necessary, along with a strong concept-driven portfolio that exhibits a solid understanding of design principles. Familiarity with designing digital assets for websites, email communications, social media, presentations, and online campaigns is also important. Candidates must be able to follow brand guidelines and produce consistent, high-quality visual materials, and should possess strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, and familiarity with Figma, Adobe After Effects, or Premiere Pro for web and simple motion graphics or video editing is a plus.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates their capability in graphic design and visual communication.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 1-3 years of professional graphic design experience. This experience can be gained through various avenues such as employment, internships, freelance work, or by presenting a strong portfolio that showcases their design skills and capabilities. The experience should reflect a solid understanding of design principles and the ability to create effective visual communications across different platforms.
Languages: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory for this position. While English proficiency is essential, familiarity with additional languages may be considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time role with an expected hiring salary range of THB 489,300-510,000 for the annual basic salary. FHI 360 considers multiple factors when determining an offer amount, including relevant years of experience and education, internal equity, market pay, and budget constraints. For internal candidates, salary placement will follow FHI 360’s current promotional increase guidelines.
