Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to support the continuous improvement and effective use of the Emergency Preparedness Platform (EPP 3.0). The intern will play a crucial role in enhancing platform quality through functional testing, issue documentation, user support, and preparedness-related activities. The intern will work closely with the Emergency Preparedness team and platform developers to ensure that the platform meets UNICEF's preparedness needs. Responsibilities will include identifying bugs, validating new functionalities, translating user feedback into actionable items, and assisting with operational support. The intern will also engage in platform testing, data validation, issue tracking, and knowledge sharing to support emergency preparedness initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
Conducting platform testing to ensure functionality and reliability.
Validating data to maintain accuracy and integrity within the platform.
Tracking issues and documenting improvements to enhance user experience.
Providing user support and facilitating knowledge sharing among team members.
Assisting in emergency preparedness activities to strengthen organizational readiness.
Collaborating with the Emergency Preparedness team to implement feedback and improve platform features.
Engaging in webinars and training sessions to support effective platform use across the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or graduation within the past two years.
6 months to 1 year of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or data validation, which can include internship or academic project experience.
A basic understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
Ability to interpret data from multiple sources and identify inconsistencies.
Clear and concise communication skills for reporting issues.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes being currently enrolled in or having recently graduated from a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree program. Candidates should have a foundational understanding of software testing and quality assurance principles, which can be gained through academic coursework or practical experience.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have between 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in software testing, quality assurance, or data validation. This experience can be obtained through internships, academic projects, or relevant work experience in a related field. Candidates should demonstrate a basic understanding of software testing methodologies and possess strong analytical skills.
Languages: Excellence in both written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Familiarity with additional UN languages such as French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, or Chinese is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
