Job Overview:
The Supply Chain Officer – Country Capacity Strengthening will play a crucial role in supporting WFP’s initiatives in the Pacific region, particularly in enhancing national and regional emergency preparedness and response systems. This position is vital for implementing supply chain strategies that align with WFP’s global and regional objectives. The officer will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to supply chain operations, contributing to assessments, and identifying operational challenges. The role requires collaboration with various internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient logistics and supply chain management. The officer will also support the Pacific Humanitarian Warehousing Programme and engage with national stakeholders to strengthen logistics capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supply Chain Officer will assist in implementing supply chain plans and procedures, ensuring alignment with WFP strategies. Key responsibilities include supporting data collection and analysis for supply chain operations, preparing reports to identify optimization opportunities, monitoring budgets and expenditures, and maintaining effective relationships with internal teams. The officer will engage with external partners, contribute to market assessments, compile routine reports, and provide day-to-day support to team activities. Additionally, the officer will assist in logistics capacity strengthening initiatives, support the establishment of a Community of Practice for humanitarian logisticians, and ensure the integration of cross-cutting priorities into capacity strengthening activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Disaster Management, Humanitarian Affairs, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a first university degree with additional relevant work experience. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and effective communication skills to engage with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Disaster Management, or related disciplines is required. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience may be considered sufficient for this position.

Experience:
At least one year of postgraduate professional experience in project management, humanitarian development, or emergency response is required, preferably with a focus on logistics or emergency management. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to work in complex environments and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Working knowledge of another UN language would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a multicultural environment.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Service Contract with a duration of 12 months, based in Suva, Fiji. The role is full-time and may require travel across the Pacific region.
