The Department of Operational Support was established to provide operational advisory services across the UN Secretariat, including various departments and field missions. The OSCM encompasses several divisions, including logistics, procurement, and aviation safety, and plays a crucial role in managing support and reimbursement for military and police contingents involved in UN peacekeeping operations. The MRPS is responsible for overseeing policies related to reimbursement for troop-contributing countries and ensuring compliance with operational standards. Job Overview:
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for providing logistics support in accordance with the Contingent Owned Equipment (COE) framework for peacekeeping and other field missions. This includes supply chain management, materials management, transportation, and contracts management. The incumbent will prepare logistics and support plans, develop methodologies for effective execution of logistics plans, and formulate mission-specific Standard Operating Procedures. The role requires coordination of logistics activities with various UN units and ensuring that logistics operations are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Logistics Officer will also oversee the training of staff, prepare reports on logistics issues, and participate in technical survey missions. The position demands a proactive approach to logistics management, ensuring that all operations align with the MOU and address gender-specific needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: preparing logistics and support plans for peacekeeping missions, managing logistics support in accordance with the MOU, coordinating the delivery of peacekeeping cargoes and personnel, ensuring staff training and development, coordinating logistics support for air, land, sea, or rail operations, preparing reports on personnel and material movements, participating in technical survey missions, ensuring accurate accounting and reporting systems, preparing contingency plans, and guiding junior staff. The role also involves liaising with other UN agencies and organizations to ensure effective logistics operations and compliance with established policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of logistics operations and practices, particularly in relation to the COE framework. They should demonstrate professionalism, efficiency, and a commitment to achieving results. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to plan and organize effectively, and a strong understanding of gender perspectives in logistics operations. Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, engineering, law, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics management within the UN framework.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in logistics operations, particularly in military, commercial, or international organizations, is required. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in conducting negotiations related to MOUs for military or police deployments. Experience in implementing the COE framework and conducting briefings to member states is desirable, as is experience in supporting international military or UN peacekeeping operations. Familiarity with data analysis and developing metrics in logistics and supply chain management is also beneficial.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is considered a desirable language, also requiring a proficiency level of UN Level II. Proficiency in both languages will enhance communication and collaboration within the UN environment, particularly in logistics operations involving diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The appointment for this position is limited to the Department of Operational Support and is for an initial period of one year, subject to renewal based on the availability of the post and funding. The position is classified as a fixed-term appointment limited to the specific entity.
