Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of migration-related projects within the IOM framework. This position requires a proactive individual who can assist in project planning, execution, and monitoring. The Project Assistant will work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure that project objectives are met efficiently and effectively. The role involves coordinating activities, maintaining project documentation, and facilitating communication among stakeholders. The Project Assistant will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to project outcomes, contributing to reports, and ensuring compliance with IOM policies and procedures. This position is vital for enhancing the organization's capacity to respond to migration challenges in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos and Kano.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and implementation of project activities in accordance with IOM guidelines and standards.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
Coordinate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to facilitate project activities.
Collect and analyze data related to project performance and outcomes, preparing reports for management review.
Support the organization of workshops, training sessions, and other events related to project implementation.
Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals and funding applications.
Provide administrative support to the project team as needed, including scheduling meetings and managing communications.
Contribute to the development of project strategies and work plans. 1
Participate in field visits to project sites to assess progress and gather feedback from beneficiaries.
Required Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Knowledge of migration issues and IOM's work would be an advantage.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, project management, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or migration studies would be beneficial.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in project assistance, administration, or a related field is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred, particularly in the context of migration or humanitarian assistance.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Nigeria, such as Yoruba or Hausa, would be an asset and is considered advantageous for effective communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and may require occasional travel within Nigeria. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding availability.
