Job Overview:
The Cash for Work Project Associate will report directly to the Cash for Work Project Officer and will play a crucial role in managing various aspects of the project. This position involves addressing project-related complaints and issues by coordinating with field staff and the project team, as well as compiling relevant reports. The associate will be responsible for preparing responses and correspondence for project-related inquiries, developing standard operating procedures, eligibility criteria, guidance notes, and documenting best practices and lessons learned. Additionally, the associate will lead the creation and implementation of a communication plan for the project, which includes developing and disseminating communication materials and organizing events in collaboration with the UNRWA Public Information team, ensuring alignment with donor and UNRWA communication policies. The role also requires organizing and maintaining project databases, conducting quality assurance checks, and assisting in project implementation to ensure that all activities and deliverables meet the required quality standards and adhere to legal agreements. The associate will track project progress and assess performance based on scope, budget, timeline, and quality, promptly reporting any issues to Project Officers along with recommended corrective actions. The position may also involve carrying out additional tasks as prioritized and assigned by the Cash for Work Project Officers and Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Cash for Work Project Associate will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: managing project-related complaints and issues by coordinating with field staff and the project team; preparing responses and correspondence for project-related queries; developing standard operating procedures, eligibility criteria, guidance notes, and documentation of best practices; leading the creation and implementation of a communication plan for the project; organizing and maintaining project databases; conducting quality assurance checks; assisting in project implementation to ensure compliance with quality standards and legal agreements; tracking project progress and assessing performance based on scope, budget, timeline, and quality; reporting any issues to Project Officers with recommended corrective actions; and carrying out additional tasks as assigned by the project management team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in fields such as business administration, public administration, development studies, project management, international relations, social sciences, communications, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in project management support, project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, community involvement, communications, and reporting, preferably within a UN agency or non-governmental organization. It is also required for applicants to disclose any close relatives working in UNRWA and to provide their registration card number if they are Palestine refugees. Furthermore, candidates must indicate their current involvement in outside activities, which may include employment, independent contracting, board memberships, public speaking, teaching, and other relevant engagements.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as business administration, public administration, development studies, project management, international relations, social sciences, communications, or a related discipline. Experience:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, but for this specific job opening, Arabic is essential for effective communication within the local context.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is a Limited Duration Contract (LDC) with a duration of 6 months, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. The monthly salary for this position is USD 1,633.20, which includes a basic salary of USD 1,466.20 and a special allowance of USD 16
  • Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave pro-rated to the duration of the contract, family allowance (if applicable), 2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service, maternity leave upon meeting eligibility requirements, and 2 weeks of paternity leave upon meeting eligibility requirements. The vacancy is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those residing in Lebanon and authorized to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible.
