Job Overview:
The JIF Coordination Technical Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Jordan INGO Forum's mission by working closely with the JIF Country Directors and the Steering Committee. This position is designed for a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships with both national and international stakeholders. The officer will coordinate government engagement efforts, ensuring that JIF members are informed and supported in their interactions with government entities. The role requires a proactive approach to collecting and disseminating information relevant to JIF members, thereby facilitating collective and coordinated actions among various stakeholders. The officer will also be expected to contribute to the development of strategies that enhance government engagement and address the needs and gaps identified by JIF members. This position demands independence, self-management, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships without bias.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The JIF Coordination Technical Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the JIF Director and Steering Committee in representing member concerns to various ministries and responding to inquiries.
  • Tracking and sharing relevant government rules and regulations with INGO members, ensuring compliance and awareness of new guidelines.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with key government stakeholders such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders and representing JIF in various forums, clusters, and working groups.
  • Providing orientations and training sessions for JIF members regarding government requirements and policies.
  • Coordinating meetings, taking notes, and following up on action items from Country Director Group meetings and Working Group meetings.
  • Managing mailing lists and communication channels for various groups within JIF.
  • Attending internal meetings to coordinate with NRC on relevant issues and maintaining financial records related to membership fees.
  • Reporting on JIF activities and indicators to ensure accurate communication with NRC, JIF membership, and donors. 1
  • Preparing and following up on procurement requests and logistics as needed. 1
  • Participating actively in improving JIF services and impact, and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have 3-5 years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly with international non-governmental organizations. Experience in coordination forums or working groups is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to collect, analyze, and report on information and data effectively. Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic is required, along with strong computer skills. The candidate should also have the capability to draft and edit reports in English, and possess advanced knowledge and expertise in working with national governmental institutions.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is mandatory for this position. This educational background should ideally be complemented by coursework or training related to humanitarian assistance, international relations, or public policy, which would provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of working within the humanitarian sector and engaging with government entities.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field of humanitarian assistance or international development. Experience working with an INGO is a prerequisite, particularly in roles that involve coordination with various stakeholders, including government officials and other NGOs. Familiarity with the context in Jordan and the operational landscape of the JIF is highly advantageous. Candidates should also have experience in managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing environments, as well as the ability to handle sensitive information professionally.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is crucial for drafting reports, engaging with stakeholders, and facilitating discussions among JIF members. While proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial, it is not a requirement for this role.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may involve occasional travel within Jordan to attend meetings and engage with stakeholders. The role is designed for individuals who can work independently and manage their time effectively.
