Job Overview:
The Monitoring & Evaluation Intern will support the UN-Habitat's Kenya Country Programme by assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of various projects. The intern will work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and will be responsible for tracking the implementation status of programs, analyzing data for inconsistencies, and ensuring quality assurance of monitoring templates. This role is crucial for compiling reports, organizing workshops, and documenting best practices that emerge from the projects. The intern will gain valuable experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation within a prominent international organization, contributing to the advancement of sustainable urban development in Kenya.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: supporting the monitoring of program implementation status, assisting in the tracking of program indicators and outcomes, reviewing data for errors, managing the internal monitoring and evaluation system, ensuring quality assurance of data, supporting third-party monitoring activities, assisting in evaluations and needs assessments, compiling project reports, organizing workshops and consultations, and documenting change stories and best practices. The intern will also perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor, providing a comprehensive experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program, be in the final year of a first university degree program, or have graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree. Additionally, candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications, demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Preferred areas of study include Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Science, Development Studies, Statistics, and Project Management.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a relevant degree program, such as a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in fields related to monitoring and evaluation, social sciences, or development studies. The internship is open to students in their final year of study or recent graduates, ensuring that applicants have a solid academic foundation relevant to the internship.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not required for this internship, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship position. This allows candidates to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, gaining valuable insights and skills in monitoring and evaluation within the context of UN-Habitat's projects.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN language, such as French, is desirable and may enhance the candidate's application.
