Job Overview: The Regional Infrastructure Advisor will play a pivotal role in providing strategic leadership and technical oversight for WAMCO’s infrastructure portfolio. This position requires a deep understanding of infrastructure development, project management, and risk assessment. The advisor will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and international partners, to promote sustainable infrastructure solutions. The advisor will also be expected to develop and implement strategies that enhance project performance and mitigate risks associated with infrastructure projects in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic planning and implementation of infrastructure projects across West Africa, ensuring alignment with WAMCO’s goals and objectives.
Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to best practices in project management and risk assessment.
Monitor and evaluate project performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Collaborate with local governments and stakeholders to promote sustainable infrastructure development and community engagement.
Prepare and present reports on project progress, challenges, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders.
Facilitate capacity-building initiatives for local teams and partners to enhance their skills in infrastructure project management.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and innovations in infrastructure development to inform strategic decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in infrastructure project management, with a focus on large-scale projects in developing regions.
Strong understanding of risk management principles and practices in infrastructure development.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in project management software and tools, as well as data analysis and reporting.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Urban Planning, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management (such as PMP or PRINCE2) are highly desirable.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure development and project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Experience working in West Africa or similar contexts is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in French is highly desirable. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the region would be an asset.
Additional Notes: This position is classified at the senior level (ICS 11) and is a full-time role under the ICA - IICA - Regular contract type. The contract duration is ongoing, with opportunities for extension based on performance and project needs.
