Job Overview:
The Assistant Departmental Safety Officer (ADSO) plays a crucial role in implementing the safety policy of the department at CERN. This position involves supporting the Departmental Safety Officer in identifying, preventing, and monitoring risks associated with various activities, infrastructure, and equipment. The ADSO is expected to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and procedures while actively promoting a strong safety culture within the organization. The role requires participation in safety inspections, drafting safety awareness messages, and contributing to the organization of planned evacuations. The ADSO will also be involved in analyzing accidents and hazardous situations, contributing to corrective and preventive actions, and monitoring action plans to enhance safety culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Departmental Safety Officer include:

• Analyzing accidents and hazardous situations to contribute to the definition of corrective and preventive actions.
• Supporting the Departmental Safety Officer in implementing the department's safety actions.
• Participating in the organization of planned evacuations and conducting feedback/lessons-learned activities following these exercises.
• Drafting and communicating prevention and safety awareness messages to promote a culture of safety.
• Conducting safety inspections and on-site visits to verify compliance with safety regulations and identify areas for improvement.
• Contributing to the monitoring of action plans and promoting a strong safety culture within the department.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Nationality of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• A maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field by the application deadline.
• The highest educational qualification must be either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
• Applicants must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
• Candidates without a university degree or those with a PhD are not eligible for this position.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Assistant Departmental Safety Officer position includes a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field. Experience:

Additional Notes:

• It is important to note that this role involves work in radiation areas, interventions in underground installations, and exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain conditions. Therefore, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed. The compensation includes a monthly stipend ranging from 5266 to 5793 Swiss Francs, which is tax-free, along with 30 days of paid leave per year, comprehensive health insurance coverage, and a relocation package depending on individual circumstances.
