Job Overview:
The Head of Field Office position at WFP is critical for managing operations in Dori, Burkina Faso, which is situated in a challenging humanitarian and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security context. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide overall leadership and management of the Dori Sub Office, ensuring the effective, timely, and high-quality implementation of WFP activities in alignment with the WFP Country Strategic Plan and national priorities. The Head of Sub Office will oversee the deployment of food assistance programs, manage financial resources, ensure the security of staff and operations, and collaborate with local authorities and partners to enhance food assistance strategies. This position requires a proactive approach to managing complex field operations and necessitates strong leadership skills to develop a cohesive and high-performing team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Head of Field Office include managing and leading WFP field operations to ensure the timely and effective deployment of food assistance programs. The incumbent will be accountable for the implementation of country office initiatives, policies, and strategies. They will ensure efficient people management and the development of a high-performing team, while also managing financial resources effectively. The Head of Field Office will be responsible for the security of WFP staff and operations, participating in the Area Security Management Team, and collaborating with local governments and partners to identify opportunities for food assistance deployment. Additionally, they will develop and coordinate data gathering and monitoring systems, prepare comprehensive reports on WFP operations, and foster partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Engaging with beneficiaries and ensuring compliance with WFP policies will also be part of the role, along with other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Head of Field Office position must possess an advanced university degree in Economics, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree combined with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be acceptable. The role requires a minimum of five years of experience in field operations, preferably in a hardship duty station or emergency situation. Candidates should have experience in developing multi-discipline work plans, managing financial budgets, and leading teams to achieve objectives. Experience in security coordination and compound management is also essential, along with the ability to analyze political situations and support decision-making processes.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Economics, International Development, or Social Sciences. A first university degree may be acceptable if accompanied by additional relevant work experience and training. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian operations and for effectively managing the challenges faced in the field.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant experience in field operations, particularly in challenging environments. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing work plans that align with strategic objectives and managing financial resources effectively. Experience in leading teams and participating in emergency operations or development programs is highly valued. Additionally, candidates should have experience in security coordination and managing operations in a mid-size area.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of WFP. Knowledge of French is also highly desirable, given the operational context in Burkina Faso. Proficiency in local languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with beneficiaries and local partners.
