Job Overview: The Human Resources Management Intern will be part of the Staff Benefits Unit, which is responsible for managing staff entitlements and benefits processing within the United Nations framework. The intern will engage in various administrative functions, assisting in documentation management and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. This role is designed to provide practical experience in human resource management, allowing the intern to contribute to the unit's operations while gaining valuable insights into the workings of the United Nations. The intern will work under the supervision of the Chief of the Staff Benefits Unit and will be involved in routine reporting activities, audits of archived files, and the overall enhancement of documentation integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a range of responsibilities, including: - Assisting in the preparation of routine data summaries and tracking sheets to support unit reporting activities. - Collaborating with the Strategy and Information Management Unit to support audits of archived files. - Contributing to the review of archived records to ensure completeness and proper documentation. - Identifying missing or inconsistent files and supporting follow-up actions to address documentation gaps. - Participating in the collection, compilation, and submission of monthly inputs and reports on behalf of the unit. - Performing other related administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor, which will contribute to on-the-job learning and development.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Additionally, a background in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Information Management, or a related field is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a strong educational background, ideally with a focus on Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or Information Management. A graduate degree or a final year of undergraduate study is required, ensuring that the intern possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge to support their practical work within the unit.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience in human resources, administration, or related fields will be beneficial. The internship is designed for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience and develop their skills in a professional environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French, which is another official UN language, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
