Job Overview:

Interns will engage in a variety of tasks that support the work of the Statistics, Data and Digital Service (SDDS), which focuses on statistical compilation and dissemination related to critical global issues such as illicit financial flows, trade, investment, and sustainable development. Interns will receive training and mentoring from experienced supervisors, ensuring a structured learning environment. The internship is full-time, requiring a commitment of five days a week, and can be conducted either remotely or in-person in Geneva, contingent upon the intern's visa status. Interns will be expected to contribute to statistical and analytical activities, assist in documentation preparation, organize meetings, and draft reports, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of the United Nations and enhancing their professional skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of duties that may include: assisting with statistical and analytical activities related to Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) and South-South cooperation; preparing documentation and organizing meetings; conducting analyses and drafting reports; and performing outreach activities as required. Interns will work under the guidance of a supervisor, ensuring that they adhere to the rules and regulations of the UN. They will also be required to provide copies of all materials they prepare during the internship, as the UN retains property rights over such materials. Interns must respect the confidentiality of information and refrain from any conduct that could negatively impact the UN's reputation.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific qualifications to be eligible for the internship. They should either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Additionally, interns should be computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations. They must possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and have knowledge of data analysis and/or programming languages such as R, Python, or Stata. No prior work experience is required, but a relevant field of study is necessary.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or they should have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree must be provided at the time of application. This educational background is essential to ensure that interns can effectively contribute to the work of the UNCTAD and gain valuable experience during their internship.

Additional Notes:
