Job Overview:
The Editor position is situated within the Information Access Unit (IAU) of the Office of the Secretary (SEC) at ADB's Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. The role is pivotal in enhancing the quality and accessibility of information and documents submitted to the Board of Directors (BOD) and subsequently disclosed to the public. The Editor will be responsible for ensuring editorial excellence, improving document structure and narrative quality, and supporting teams in presenting clear, evidence-based information. This position also involves leading improvements in document management practices, contributing to digital transformation initiatives, and promoting a culture of high-quality documentation. The Editor will work closely with various departments and stakeholders to align systems and practices, acting as a liaison between business, editorial, and technical teams. Additionally, the role includes providing secretariat support to Board committees and documenting key events such as Annual Meetings and Board and Management Retreats.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide editorial excellence for Board documents, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with ADB standards while appropriately handling sensitive issues.
  • Improve the structure and narrative quality of complex policy and operational documents.
  • Support teams in presenting clear, evidence-based, and decision-focused information.
  • Promote standards that ensure content is concise, consistent, and machine-readable.
  • Lead improvements in document, information, and records management practices across SEC and BOD, ensuring alignment with ADB policies on information classification, access, and disclosure.
  • Contribute to enhancements of digital platforms and responsible AI adoption, supporting the integration of systems and tools to improve Board members' user experience and access to information.
  • Develop and deliver targeted training and guidance on editorial excellence, promoting a culture of high-quality documentation and good information management practices.
  • Work closely with relevant departments and stakeholders to align systems and practices, acting as a bridge between business, editorial, and technical teams.

  • Provide secretariat support to Board committees as required and support documentation of key events such as Annual Meetings and Board and Management Retreats.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, Communications, International Affairs, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Information Management, or related fields. Alternatively, a university degree in the aforementioned areas combined with specialized experience in similar organizations may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree. Additionally, candidates should have at least 6 years of relevant information and document management and editing experience in a professional capacity, along with experience in digital transformation in editorial roles and in using digital tools and AI in the workplace. International experience working in several countries, preferably in developing countries, is also required, along with excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in fields such as English, Journalism, Communications, International Affairs, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Information Management, or related disciplines. In cases where candidates hold a university degree in these areas, they may still be considered if they have specialized experience in similar organizations, which can substitute for a Master's degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in information and document management and editing within a professional context. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in editorial roles that involve digital transformation and the use of digital tools and AI in the workplace. Additionally, international experience, particularly in developing countries, is highly valued, as it contributes to a broader understanding of the diverse contexts in which ADB operates.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is excellent proficiency in English, both oral and written. While English is the primary language of communication, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the Asia-Pacific region, as they can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This appointment is a fixed-term position for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 2 additional years, conversion to a regular appointment, or termination at the end of the initial period based on ADB's needs and the employee's performance. The role is full-time and requires relocation to Manila, Philippines, with all reasonable relocation expenses covered.
