Job Overview: The Senior Cyber security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Architect position is a pivotal role within the EUROCONTROL Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing senior technical expertise and strategic guidance on cyber security-related IT architecture. This role requires a deep understanding of the organization's objectives and long-term sustainability goals. The architect will lead the development of architecture roadmaps that align with the organization's security vision and evolving technology needs. The position also involves fostering collaboration with key internal partners, evaluating emerging technologies, and ensuring adherence to architecture standards and security protocols. The architect will play a crucial role in mentoring teams, managing resources, and ensuring the successful integration of architecture solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Cyber Security Architect include:
Providing senior technical expertise and strategic guidance on cyber security-related IT architecture.
Leading the definition, development, and coordination of architecture roadmaps.
Contributing to the definition and implementation of robust architecture strategies, standards, and policies.
Fostering collaboration with internal partners to promote an integrated approach to architecture.
Evaluating emerging cyber security technologies and recommending new solutions.
Ensuring adherence to architecture standards and establishing governance processes.
Providing guidance and mentorship to teams and colleagues.
Leading discussions on best practices for architecture integration and scalability.
Planning, managing, and monitoring team output, including resource allocation and performance evaluation. 1

Carrying out any other tasks in line with the main purpose of the job.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed third-level studies in Computer Science or IT, meeting European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 6 with 11 years of relevant professional experience, or EQF Level 7 with 10 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in modern cybersecurity technologies for on-prem and cloud/hybrid architectures is essential. Candidates should also have experience in designing and implementing zero-trust architectures, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity regulations, and connecting business risks with IT architecture. English drafting skills for technical documentation are required, and experience in people management is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree in Computer Science or Information Technology that meets the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 6 or Level
This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of cyber security architecture and the technologies involved.
Experience: The position requires significant experience in the field of cyber security, specifically a minimum of 10 to 11 years of relevant professional experience depending on the educational qualifications. This experience should encompass a broad range of competencies in cybersecurity technologies, architecture design, and compliance with regulations.
Languages: Proficiency in English at level C1 is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of the Agency. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is one of the official languages of EUROCONTROL, but not mandatory for this role.
Additional Notes: The position is a full-time role with a duration of 5 years, with the possibility of renewal or conversion under certain conditions. The selected candidate must reside in Maastricht or a reasonable proximity to ensure satisfactory execution of duties. The role operates under a hybrid working model, combining onsite presence with remote work opportunities, although full-time remote work is not permitted. Candidates must be nationals of EUROCONTROL Member States, and the selected candidate will undergo a probationary period of nine months. The appointment will be made in accordance with the General conditions of employment governing servants at the EUROCONTROL Maastricht Centre.
