Job Overview:
The Technical Support Officer position at WFP is designed to provide specialized support and analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">technical analysis related to policies and programs that effectively address assistance needs. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance and support in the development and implementation of various activities and procedures to ensure alignment with broader program policies and directives.
  • Offer specialized project management support within specific programs to ensure activities are executed in accordance with set objectives and WFP policies.
  • Develop reports and data analyses related to food assistance needs, resource utilization, program progress, and performance, highlighting trends or issues while ensuring compliance with WFP's quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of data relevant to the technical area, maintaining consistency in information presented to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with colleagues to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Engage with local partners, NGOs, and public institutions to conduct accurate food security analyses and ensure efficient food assistance delivery.
  • Assist in capacity building for WFP staff, cooperating partners, and national governments in the relevant technical area.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving various operational issues encountered in the technical area.
  • Supervise or review the work of other support staff, providing practical guidance to help achieve objectives within agreed standards and timelines. 1
  • Implement standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can respond quickly and deploy necessary resources in affected areas at the onset of crises.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a university degree (minimum Bachelor's level) in Project Management, Social Sciences, Education, Public Health, or a related field being desirable. A strong understanding of project management principles and practices is essential, along with the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to WFP's mission and values, showcasing integrity, collaboration, and a commitment to humanitarian principles.

Educational Background:
A minimum of secondary education is required, with a preference for candidates holding a university degree in relevant fields such as Project Management, Social Sciences, Education, or Public Health. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian assistance and program implementation.

Experience:
Candidates should possess at least six (6) years of post-university experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring humanitarian and development projects, particularly in the education sector or gender-related issues. Experience in nutrition would be considered an asset, as it aligns with WFP's focus on food security and health.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, with a good command of local Arabic and English being advantageous. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with local partners and stakeholders, as well as for the preparation of reports and analyses.
