Job Overview: The Consultant will be responsible for synthesizing and drafting a flagship publication titled 'Voices of Transformation: Stories of Progress in the Implementation of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA).' This role involves analyzing progress at national, regional, and global levels to document lessons learned, good practices, and notable success stories related to the DPoA. The consultant will conduct a comprehensive review and assessment of the DPoA's implementation, utilizing various data sources, including National MTR Reports, SG reports, and thematic publications. The position requires the consultant to engage with stakeholders through consultations and present findings in a visually engaging format, ensuring that the publication effectively communicates key messages and recommendations for various audiences, including LDC governments and development partners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant's duties include conducting a desk review and applying relevant data collection methods to assess the progress of the DPoA. This involves highlighting key lessons learned and notable success stories, as well as providing strategic recommendations for scaling and replication. The consultant will participate in expert group consultations to present findings and refine the draft report based on feedback. Specific tasks include conducting a comprehensive review of relevant reports, engaging in consultations with stakeholders, drafting the final report with rich graphics, and validating data through peer review processes. The consultant is expected to deliver all outputs in English and ensure that the final report is reader-friendly and impactful.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Economics, International Development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in international or regional development, particularly focused on global frameworks for LDCs, is required. Knowledge of development strategies and programming policies at the national level is essential, along with proven competency in research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative analysis. Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience in producing high-level analytical reports for the UN and have the ability to distill complex policy issues into accessible narratives.
