Job Overview: The Senior Programme Assistant position at WFP is crucial for supporting the administrative functions of the Emergency Preparedness and Response unit. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support and assistance in the development and implementation of various processes and activities within the Emergency Preparedness and Response area, ensuring alignment with broader program policies and guidelines.
Assist in the planning, preparation, and management of projects within the area to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with established goals and WFP policies and procedures.
Support the preparation of reports and data analysis related to food assistance needs and program implementation within the Emergency Preparedness and Response area.
Ensure timely data entry and management in relation to program implementation, maintaining consistency and accuracy of information presented to stakeholders.
Maintain communication with internal counterparts to foster collaboration and effective implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
Assist in capacity strengthening processes for WFP staff and partner organizations as needed.
Follow standard emergency preparedness and response practices to ensure WFP is ready to respond quickly and deploy necessary resources to affected areas at the onset of a crisis.
Support the selection of cooperating partners and evaluate their performance in the context of project execution.
Perform other activities as required by the supervisor that align with the purpose of the position.
Required Qualifications: Minimum requirements include completion of secondary education. A professional degree in social sciences, social work, business administration, nutrition, food engineering, or related fields is desirable. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to work in multicultural environments under pressure. Proficiency in office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and intermediate knowledge of databases are essential. Experience in humanitarian responses and community capacity strengthening is also preferred, along with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have completed secondary education, with a preference for those holding a professional degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, social work, business administration, nutrition, food engineering, or similar disciplines. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of program implementation and community engagement in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in designing and implementing social programs, community planning, and participation, particularly in the context of food provision programs. Candidates should have experience working in complex environments, particularly in humanitarian settings, and should demonstrate a track record of effective project management and collaboration with community organizations and UN agencies.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for effective communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and communities. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is until December 31, 2026, under a Special Services Agreement (SSA) modality at level SSA
