Job Overview: The Project Coordinator – Climate and Environment will play a crucial role in coordinating two global initiatives aimed at integrating climate and environmental considerations into NRC's humanitarian response. Reporting directly to the Global Lead for Climate and Environment, the coordinator will act as the primary liaison between NRC Country Offices, partners, and donors. This position requires a highly organized professional who is passionate about climate action and sustainability in humanitarian efforts. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring effective project delivery, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and maintaining timely reporting and visibility of project outcomes. The role involves driving the implementation of climate and environmental strategies, monitoring progress, and supporting NRC's commitment to environmentally responsible programming.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing communication, briefings, and presentations on climate and environment strategies and projects; coordinating with NRC country offices to schedule capacity-building missions focused on environmental and climate mainstreaming; supporting country offices in planning and executing these missions; ensuring timely sharing of information regarding capacity-building opportunities; preparing regular updates on global project progress and achievements; coordinating inputs for donor reporting in collaboration with various stakeholders; ensuring that reports documenting learning and recommendations from global projects are shared with external partners; following up on the registration process for humanitarian organizations interested in climate and environmental capacity building; monitoring global projects, including the number and locations of capacity-building sessions; gathering feedback from participants through post-training surveys; ensuring that reports from capacity-building sessions are published on NRC's SharePoint; and supporting project budget reviews and follow-ups with the finance coordinator.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in environmental or political science or other social studies. They should have documented experience in managing or supporting large projects or events. Effective communication skills across departments and units are essential, along with excellent analytical abilities. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, while knowledge of other NRC languages such as Spanish, French, or Arabic is considered an asset. Relevant work experience in the humanitarian or development sector is desirable, and experience in environmental management is advantageous. Proficiency in ICT tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint, is required. Familiarity with international humanitarian work and donor procedures is also desirable.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in environmental science, political science, or other relevant social studies. Additional Notes: The duty station for this position is NRC Headquarters in Oslo, Norway. The contract duration is for 10 months, with potential travel requirements of up to 20%. The salary and benefits are based on Grade 7 of NRC’s Resident salary scale, which includes accompanying terms and conditions.
