The officer will be responsible for identifying relevant subjects to enhance media and communication activities at the country level, developing a comprehensive communications plan that synergizes with global and regional strategies. The role also involves coordinating the drafting and dissemination of communication bulletins and newsletters, ensuring that all materials are of high quality and delivered in a timely manner. The officer will produce public information materials, build relationships with national media, and manage social media accounts, ensuring consistent messaging and visibility of WHO's work in South Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the WHO South Africa Communications and Advocacy Action Plan 2026–202
Identify subjects of interest to develop and improve media/communication activities at the country level.
Develop a communications plan for the country office that aligns with global and regional strategies.
Coordinate, draft, and disseminate WCO’s communication bulletins and quarterly newsletters.
Produce public information materials such as press releases and media advisories.
Build relations with national media to ensure regular profiling of WHO issues.
Take photographs of key WHO events and health programs for use on websites and social media.
Monitor media coverage of WHO issues and provide regular reports to the country team.
Organize photographic shoots and interviews to highlight WHO achievements. 1
