Job Overview:
The Programme Support Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the effective and efficient delivery of the FAO's programme and project activities at the country level. This position involves assisting in the collection, consolidation, and drafting of information materials and reports that are essential for the implementation of FAO’s projects. The consultant will also support the identification and formulation of programmatic interventions aimed at the early recovery and reconstruction of the agri-food system in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the aftermath of the recent conflict. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including technical and operational team members, to ensure that project objectives are met and that the needs of the Palestinian people are addressed in alignment with national policies and strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including: assisting in the drafting of programme-specific information materials, supporting the formulation of new project concepts, participating in programmatic meetings, documenting project implementation, reviewing project reports, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, maintaining proper filing of programme documents, developing quality information materials, conducting field visits, drafting case studies, and providing coaching to affiliate personnel. The consultant will also be expected to lead the formulation of concept notes and project documents for new initiatives, coordinate with the Gaza team, and perform any other duties related to programme implementation as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in developmental studies, international relations, social studies, agriculture, or related fields. Those with a bachelor's degree must have two additional years of relevant professional experience. A minimum of one year of professional experience in emergency and development projects is required, with a focus on programme support. Additionally, candidates must have a working knowledge of English at Level C.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in relevant fields is mandatory. For those with a bachelor's degree, two additional years of relevant professional experience are required to compensate for the lack of an advanced degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least one year of professional experience relevant to emergency and development projects, preferably with a focus on programme support. Experience working with international organizations is desirable, as is familiarity with international humanitarian architecture, including the UN System and NGOs.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English (Level C) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.
