Job Overview: FHI 360 is seeking Drivers for the Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) under the EpiC project and the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) project in Liberia. The role of the Driver is crucial as it involves providing reliable and safe driving services to support project teams. The Driver will be responsible for operating project vehicles, ensuring the safe transportation of clients and project staff to various destinations. This position requires a client-oriented approach, a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, the Driver will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the vehicle, which includes washing the exterior, cleaning the interior, and ensuring that all maintenance and repairs are conducted in a timely manner. The Driver will also be expected to maintain a vehicle logbook, track fuel consumption, and ensure that all necessary vehicle documents are up to date.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will operate the assigned vehicle for project implementation in accordance with FHI 360 policies and national driving regulations. Responsibilities include maintaining a vehicle logbook with accurate travel information, liaising with supervisors for vehicle repairs and maintenance, tracking fuel consumption, and submitting reports for fuel replenishment. The Driver will perform day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle, including timely oil changes, inspections, and ensuring that all required documents for the vehicle are in order. In the event of an accident, the Driver must take immediate actions as required by policies and ensure that passengers adhere to road safety regulations. The Driver will also provide input for vehicle maintenance plans and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driving license, a clean driving record, and a trade test certificate. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety regulations. The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of FHI 360, particularly in relation to safeguarding and ethical conduct.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the Liberia School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or an equivalent qualification. This educational background ensures that candidates have the foundational knowledge necessary for the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of related driving experience. Experience in operating large vehicles is preferred, and an equivalent combination of experience and training may also be considered. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the Driver can handle the responsibilities of the position effectively and safely.
Languages: While the primary language for this position is English, proficiency in additional local languages may be considered an asset. Strong communication skills in English are mandatory to ensure effective interaction with project teams and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Monrovia, Liberia, and is a full-time role. FHI 360 offers a competitive compensation package, with an expected annual salary range of USD 5,000 - 7,000, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
